Our Focus
Legislation
The Commission tracks legislation of particular importance to
the women of Anne Arundel County and prepares support or
opposition papers on pending legislation. Recent efforts have
focused the attention of the public and legislature on issues of
particular concern: violence, health care initiatives, child and
adult care options, child abuse prevention and treatment and
economic concerns. [links to

Health
The Commission concentrates on matters relating to personal
and family health and medical care
and educational opportunities
for women. Issues include
breast cancer education, access to
obstetrical care for all women, and women’s health research. The
Commission is one of the founders of the Women’s Health Network
– a network of women’s health care providers, community leaders,
and consumers of women’s health services in Anne Arundel County.

Education
Educational efforts are directed toward non-discriminatory
educational and vocational guidance materials and expansion of
educational opportunities for women. [links to
